February 26 -- Hobart -- Insight4 Summer Intern Program Successfully Concludes for 2009/2010
Insight4 is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2009/2010 Summer Intern Program. The program is run annually by Insight4 and is designed to aid students with professional development through gaining experience and exposure in a real workplace. The program enables students to be treated the same as a regular full time employee. They receive a wage, perform operational duties, operate to deadlines and learn the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of the professional world.
This year Insight4 supported the intake of three UTas undergraduate students; Matthew Hughes, from the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems and Debdut Roy and Luke Woodward from the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology. The comprehensive experience has enabled all three to work on a diverse range of enterprise projects across multiple industry sectors.
The 12 week placements facilitated by Insight4 provide a range of benefits to the students, specifically a true insight into their futures roles as professionals, an experience not normally possible for full time students. They have gained exposure and practical experience with the day-to-day operation of business, client interaction, working co-operatively in a team environment and working effectively in an autonomous role. All of these experiences are highly desired by prospective employers.
Managing Director of Insight4, Jared Hill states “Insight4 is a firm believer in supporting the growth of intelligent and motivated minds. We have sponsored students on the program over the past few years and will continue to do so. The success of Insight4 has placed us in a favourable position where we can reach out and give back to the Tasmanian ICT industry. We believe supporting the development and growth of the state’s future talent is the key to achieving this”.
Debdut Roy had the following to say “My experience with insight4 has been both enjoyable and extremely rewarding. At first I was very nervous, I have never experienced working in a professional environment, 9-5. After my initial interview with Jared I felt relieved and confident that Insight4 was going to be a great place to work. The relaxed yet professional atmosphere encouraged me to challenge my notion of thinking and to ask questions from my mentors at any time. I have made some great friends, gained a lot of experience and I feel that I am much better prepared for when I graduate”.
