Tickit On Demand is a next-generation risk and compliance software system that focuses on simplicity, intuitiveness and ease of use, while delivering essential features at an affordable price. It uses Web 2.0 technology to deliver the richness and responsiveness of an enterprise-grade desktop application affordably via the web (the first to use an entirely online architecture), and an advanced interface to create unmatched levels of user-centricity, interactivity and intuitiveness.
Tasmanian-owned Tickit Systems partnered with Insight4 in 2007 to advance its product through the development of an on-demand solution. The resulting application ‘Tickit’ supports critical Australian and New Zealand standards for risk and compliance, allowing organisations to apply sound management principles.
Evaluating a full array of available options – including cloud and hosted delivery, and emergent web frameworks and technologies – Insight4 set out to implement a solution which would deliver true differentiation in the marketplace. By leveraging an optimised mix of advanced Web 2.0 technologies, and the specialised skill sets of Insight4’s dedicated web application development team, they were able move the product into an exciting and entirely new market space.
The result is a richly interactive and innovative web application that’s generating strong market success and profitability for Tickit Systems. Tickit On Demand sets high standards in functional effectiveness, innovation and user-centricity – at a fraction of the cost of competing products.
Through the expertise of web application group, Insight4 was able to innovatively apply the following mix of Web 2.0 technologies:
Ruby on Rails – Tickit On Demand was built using agile development methodologies in Ruby on Rails – a leading-edge open source web framework designed to optimise programmer productivity. This allowed Insight4 to deliver Tickit on demand rapidly, affordably and to the highest standard, while remaining responsive to the Tickit Systems’ requirements as they evolved.
Amazon Web Services - Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a web service providing resizable compute capacity which only became publicly available in October 2007. Used in conjunction with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Insight4 were able leverage Amazon’s Hardware as a Service model to deliver a web based application which was both highly scalable and economical, allowing Tickit Systems to lower its cost structure.
Ajax – Web 2.0 technologies have been used to give Tickit what is undoubtedly a world-class interface. The innovation placed into the application at this level has produced a uniquely interactive and engaging user experience, with an ease of use and intuitiveness that is simply not available in any Australian or international product on the market.
Tickit on Demand was launched in July 2008 and has been enthusiastically accepted by current Tickit Systems customers and new prospects. Customers include Toyota, Colonial First State Property Management, Black Rock Investment Management, Victorian Funds Management Corporation, RACWA, Australian National Maritime Museum, WA GP network and many more.
Recent new customers include PMI Group, AGEST Super, Covermore Travel Insurance, Gippsland Division of General Practice and Austral Risk Services and Sargent.
The future is bright for Tickit on Demand thanks to the innovation and working partnership of Tickit Systems and Insight4.
