Following the rollout of the Facebook API in May 2007, Insight4 allocated resources in-house to implement an application idea of its own, seeking experience in social networking, EC2, and the Facebook platform. In 2007, Insight4 undertook application development using Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2); a web service providing resizable compute capacity which only became publicly available in October 2007. Used in conjunction with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Insight4 were able to leverage Amazon’s Hardware as a Service model to produce a web based application which was both highly scalable, and economical. |

Insight4 is currently finalising the development of an Ausindustry-funded web 2.0 project for mainland-based company, TickIT. Risk-management software, ‘TickIT on Demand’ supports Australian Standard AS4360, allowing organisations to apply sound risk management principles. Delivered via SAAS, TickIT has been built using agile development methodologies in Ruby on Rails, and utilises a range of web 2.0 technologies. |
